The master bedroom suite is being completely overhauled, featuring an Isokern fireplace, tall vaulted ceilings, a free standing tub with a beautiful view, arched ceilings throughout the bath, and a very spacious master closet. All of the siding will be stucco, adorned with cyprus trim, copper flashing, and a cedar shake roof by Steve Allred Roofing Company. Tommy Trimm, of Trimm Landscaping is doing a fabulous job on the new motor court, stone landing, and retaining walls. Other trades contributing to our project are Plumbing Professionals, Aero Mechanical, JM Construction Company, The Overhead Door Company of Birmingham, ELI (Khristian McAllister), Builder's Millwork, Alpha Millwork, Crossville Tile in English Village, Attic Insulation Company, Fergusan Plumbing Supply, and Ben Smith to name a few.
Diaper Road Project
Diaper Road Project- 100 year old homes are a source of constant upkeep, and opportunities for clever re-design. What began as a shower pan leak in the master bath, quickly became an all-out remodeling project which included licensed sub-contractors, Building Inspectors, and a business-pleasure trip to Atlanta's Floor and Decor for a tile package. The original bathroom floor plan was obviously dated, characterized by poor lighting, air flow and ventilation, and non-dedicated grounded electrical circuits. Alabama Closet Experts built-out a classic vanity, which was accessorized by a Kohler faucet and sink, hardware from Restoration Hardware, and an exotic "leathered" limestone top fabricated and installed by Joe Little at Stone Concepts. The tile work consisted of laying a marble tile over a Heatweave heated floor mat, and a classic subway tile design for the shower walls. A simple ceramic mosaic was utilized on the shower floor, using a generous slope for water runoff. Nelson Glass installed a heavy glass shower enclosure that gives the space a truly spa-like atmosphere. The electrical package included new recessed lighting (dimmable), an oversized Nutone exhaust fan, and a wall mounted flat screen TV. The original bathroom window was retrofitted with a tempered shower glass, which provides ample natural lighting while minimalizing the space (no window accessories). All of the trim was custom milled/routed on site, and V&W Supply provided really unique towel bars and bathrobe hooks.
Altadena Road Project
I can't catagorize the Altadena Project any other way than...Very cool! McRae Interior Design coordinated the work for everyone and brought in Jan Roberts to add an incredible finish to the existing masonry, cedar beams, and trim work. We replaced the kitchen faucet, installed a new oven and microwave, swapped the exisitng laminate top at the range with Silestone, and replaced the ceramic backsplash with a glass mosaic tile from Clay, Metal, and Stone. Our painters worked side by side with Jan with painstaking attention to detail to complete the project.
